NISSEM Global Briefs Vol. 5. "Global Education for a better and more resilient world".

Join chapter authors and representatives of the project partner organisations for the launch of a new open access volume from NISSEM in collaboration with ANGEL and GENE.

The NISSEM Global Briefs series aims to show how SDG Target 4.7 themes and social and emotional learning (SEL) can be embedded in education policies, programs, curricula, materials, and practice, to help make progress towards sustainable development.

This fifth volume highlights the potential of international and regional policy frameworks. Briefs introduce the 2023 UNESCO Recommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights and Sustainable Development, and the 2022 European Declaration on Global Education to 2050, which aim to inspire transformative education.

Through 12 papers by a total of 20 contributors from a wide range of countries, and an introductory conversation among the co-editors, Aaron Benavot, Douglas Bourn, Margaret Sinclair and Andy Smart, the volume explores how education systems can navigate global challenges while cultivating student agency, resilience, and hope. It also examines the role of textbooks, social media, AI, and diverse cultural traditions in shaping meaningful learning experiences, particularly in low- and middle-income contexts.

Please join us as we discuss and explore this important new publication, with learning opportunities for policymakers, educators, and advocates of Global Education and Learning.
